Many people are under the impression that Social Media is a great help for getting your blog out there and getting people to read it. Some people are also under the impression that pigs fly, and I have a feeling that’s the more likely impression here. Until recently, I used to think Social Media was something great for my blog, even though the numbers said otherwise.
We already know that Facebook is a terrible place to promote anything because no matter how many settings get changed and how often, you are always going to have connections on Facebook that are never going to see what you post, so for promotion Facebook is sort of out the window. However, Twitter does have a better chance of being a place to promote your blog, but take a look at how fast the feed can move sometimes. If you are waiting for something in particular, you are going to have to give full attention to the feed unless you use the Twitter web client, and even that has a limit of how many tweets it will hold for you.
When you go to tweet out a recent blog post, chances are you are going to have some people following you who aren’t interested in what you are blogging about, or even blogging in general. If people are watching the Twitter stream in real-time, only a select number of people may ever see your tweet. Let’s say someone does see your tweet and tweets it out after reading the blog post, but no one in their network is interested in the topic of the blog, or blogging. You can see where the problem is.
I’ve found a secret that allows me to get a lot more people reading the content on my blog. Instead of having to set up a program to auto tweet my blog posts and hoping enough people see my tweets, I can have people who care about blogging and care about what my blog post is talking about, and have networks of those same kinds of people tweet out my blog posts. By doing this I get a lot more response back to the site from those tweets.
This secret is called Triberr, and it’s not really a secret, I just wanted to build up the suspense
. Triberr is an online community for bloggers that was founded last year. Here’s how it works. I write a blog post, then it’s automatically sent to Triberr. I’m connected to several tribes with people who are interested in what I write about. Those people will read my blog post, then share it. If they can’t get to it right away, it will be there waiting for them to read. They can also up vote it if they really liked it to give more exposure to it.
Triberr is also trying to bring back guest blogging. I’ve got my blog set up so whenever I write a post and send it to Triberr, there is an option for anyone on Triberr to re-blog it to their blog. This brings more exposure to my work, and there’s also a cool comment system so if someone leaves a comment on my re-blogged post, it will show up on the original post as well!
Now that I’ve enabled Triberr, almost 100% of the traffic to my blog is coming from Triberr, and it’s shot up a lot. I write once a day and am even more happy than before to do it, because I know people are reading what I am writing and really understand and care about it. Join Triberr today!
